Summer Activities

Soak up the sun as our prime location makes Jackson Hot Springs the perfect home base for your enjoyment of the great outdoors. Get your feet wet on the world famous Big Hole River and enjoy Montana’s world class fly fishing. Surround yourself in serenity along hundreds of miles of trails fit for hikers, mountain bikers and horse back riders alike. Or just take it all in for a relaxing afternoon in our outdoor hot springs pool. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Fly Fishing

Montana is world renowned for its fishing opportunities and the Big Hole valley is no exception. Our friends at East Fork Outfitting and Lapham Outfitting will offer a number of fishing packages and tours on many of the surrounding rivers. Don’t be intimidated by its reputation, fishermen of all skill levels are welcome to enjoy rivers ripe with fish and scenery only dreamed about by moviemakers.

Hundreds of Miles of Trails

Bobcat Lakes

  • Type of hike: Day or overnight
  • Distance: 8 miles round trip
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Directions to trailhead: Head south toward MT-278E for 500ft. Turn left at MT-278E and continue for 18 miles. Turn left at pioneer mountains scenic byway and continue for 27 miles. Turn left at Forest Service Rd 1299/Lacy Creek road and continue for 4 miles until trailhead.

Sawtooth Lakes

  • Type of hike: Day or overnight
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Directions to trailhead: Head south toward MT-278E for 500ft. Turn left at MT-278E and continue for 18 miles. Turn left at pioneer mountains scenic byway and continue for 10 miles. At Elkhorn Hot Springs turn right onto Willman Creek Road (forest road 7441). Follow until it forks and stay right for a quarter mile to trailhead.

Torrey Lake

  • Type of hike: Long day hike or overnight
  • Distance: 17 miles round trip
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Directions to trailhead: Head south toward MT-278E for 500ft. Turn left at MT-278E and continue for 18 miles. Turn left at pioneer mountains scenic byway and continue for 23 miles. Turn right on Forest road 2465 for a quarter mile to Mono Creek Campground and Jacobson Creek Trail 2 trailhead.

Winter Activities

When the temperature drops, the smiles get warmer in the Big Hole Valley. Rocky mountain snow falls heavily in this area of the country and that sets the stage for plenty of skiing and snowmobiling opportunities. Downhill slopes are as little as 20 minuets away, the nearby Pioneer Mountains offer miles of the finest backcountry trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobile enthusiasts. The powder is light and the adventures are everywhere. Bring your goggles and enjoy!
